Metalized Polycarbonate Axial Capacitors are often highly regarded for their unique ability to withstand temperatures of -55°C - +125°C without a negligible change in voltage De-rating*. Meanwhile most axial film capacitors usually have a voltage de-rating at temperatures above 85°C. Most capacitors that don’t de-rate at higher temperatures happen to be larger in physical size. These capacitors have a low dissipation factor, which is usually less than 0.36%.
* De-rating – Occurs when you run a capacitor at lower values to prolong its life and stability. This usually occurs at higher temperatures of 85°C and above.

Metalized polycarbonate axial capacitors are often referred to as “Yellow Jacket Capacitors” because of their bright yellow case color.
