The Type 160 series radial film capacitor is quite possibly the most popular of all the many different types of box capacitors. It has a metalized polyester dielectric. It is non-inductively wound and packaged in a rugged flame-resistant plastic case. The lead spacings, 10mm through 27.5mm match the industry standards. They are bulk packaged and have a 5.5mm lead length.
This series is ideal for most general purpose applications such as blocking and coupling, timing, decoupling, by-passing, low filtering and energy storage/ discharge. The operating temperature range of this "mini box capacitors" is -55°C to +105°C. It is offered in tolerance of 5%, 10% and 20% and ranges in voltage from 63VDC up to 1000VDC.
The Type 160 series capacitor is ideal where board space is minimal. The rectangular plastic case, which is why this style is called a “box” capacitor, is moisture resistant is another reason that this series has been so popular for many years.
